LUCY 2001 - 2020, & a Legend.
R.I.P. - Aug. 11th, 2020
1/2 Belgian Draft & 1/2 Arabian.
Equipment Color - Purple
Nickname - LuLu, or Lucifer
Lucy's daughter MYSTI'K (pronounced Mistique) was born in 2008. Male or Female rider, results are the same. She is entirely too smart, has a very Human personality, & a Teenager "Tude"! Very Sassy with her siblings. She can be ridden by a VERY ASSERTIVE Novice rider up to @300#. BE AWARE, she's VERY Lazy most of the time & determined to snack excessively along the trail !
She is the 2nd Horse excused from working in Hot/Humid weather.
HumidEquipment Color - Yellow
Nickname - BratZilla
The Father of Mysti`k, POWERSTROKE - is nearly ONE-TON (2,000 pounds), 1999 model Percheron (a full draft breed). Stroker was a Stud (that's how we got Mysti`k) & has been gelded since Nov. 2008. He has a pretty gentle/slow nature - BUT, a Very BIG Powerful Trot !!
He has an intelligent & mature mind, & is agile for his size. He can be ridden by an Assertive, Adventurous, Adult rider. He occasionally gets Food Brain & is LAZY. BUT, as you are sitting 6 Feet in the air - he is not for everyone. Stroker also has the hardest time in Hot/Humid weather & is the 1st to be scratched from working in it. He can take riders up to @325# for a couple hours, & over 2 hrs - it's @300#.
Equipment Color - Orange
Nickname - Big Man -or- JackHammer
IN SUMMARY ...
I have 2 pretty easy Horses for the Nervous Novice rider at this time - (less than 10 hours riding experience) - BlackJack & HotShot. Even Cowboy is pretty easy in the smaller group setting. BLACKJACK is Light Duty !
Stroker is also pretty easy going, but has that rough & bouncy Trot.
The 2 bigger drafts are better with Bold, Aventurous, or Assertive riders, OR riding in a smaller group for a private ride - they do really well. So, left with only 6 horses when we lost Lucy ... group limit is 4 riders, now.
COWBOY - is an old style heavier built, 2003 model, 3 gaited Tennessee Walker. Riders up to @200#.
He is notoriously stubborn for trying to stop and eat along the trail, instead of just snacking. He does best with an Assertive rider, because of snacking & can be lazy, & a bit grouchy near his siblings - but really likes people, & has a lovable 'Big Dog' Personality.
Tack Color - Dark Green
Nickname - DingDong
HOT SHOT - is a 5 gaited, 2001 model, Tennessee Walker, rider limit @200#. & over 2 hrs - less is better.
He's a little 'Squirrel Brained', but does very well with Novice riders giving mixed signals. He detests mud, a bit of an Eater on the Trail, & also Lazy. He also can be sassy with siblings.
Tack Color - Browns/Tans
Nickname - Dopey
BLACKJACK - LIGHT DUTY
- is a 1997 model, 3 gaited Tenn. Walker, rider limit is @150# especially over 2 hrs.
He knows his place in line (behind me), and his job. He's not a big eater, but snacks politely; is not hyper, but not lazy. He has a gift of calming a nervous rider, but can get excited about going faster & bee-bop around.
Tack Color - Dark Blues
Nickname - SweetPea
SUPERMAN was also born in 2008 & is a Gaited Draft cross (with a 4 yr old brain).
He is ONLY for ME or Uber Advanced Riders at this time. Carries @250#
Tack Color - Teal & Silver
Nickname - ?????
